Emma is now seven months and one week old and is getting more beautiful each day. Her vocalizations have turned to long vowel sounds like "Ouuu" and "ooo". It's exciting for me to imagine what her first word will be. Believe it or not, Emma still has no interest in rolling over to her belly, but is officially an "independent sitter". Elena laughs at me when I say that because just a few weeks ago I did not know that that was even a classification. Another interesting development is that Emma can now stand for limited durations on her own while grasping onto things like the couch. We have to stand her and position her legs as she can't lift herself yet, but once there she can balance for an impressive amount of time. Clearly that is an exciting milestone for us. Emma gave me the cutest shirt for Father's day last year when she was still in her Mother's belly. The shirt was actually for her and I had been meaning to dress her in it and snap some photos. Elena and I finally got around to it this weekend. Here are some pictures from our photo shoot.
Emma's cousin, Jessie graduated from High School on Friday, May 19th. Her father Greg, Grandparents Joe & Carol, and sisters Casey & Kirsten were all in town to celebrate. We had a little pizza party for her and played some games. We are extremely proud of Jessie's accomplishment and continued education as she pursues medicine in college. Finally, Emma's Great Grandmother Mima celebrated her 93rd birthday with us last week. She enjoyed seeing Emma and we enjoyed having her visit. Although we didn't have a chance to see her, Great Grandmother Abuelita Sarita celebrated her 88th birthday on May 20th. We look forward to seeing her next week. |
