The updates get harder and harder each week. There is quite a bit going on in our lives at the moment. Work's relentless daily grind makes updating during the week impossible, and the precious weekend is so short that I don't have the extra bandwidth required to update the page properly. But I am a fighter and I am not going to give up! The updates may not be as frequent as I would like but I am committed to getting in at least one a month. There is so much I want to say and features I would like to add to the site whenever I get the time. I attempted to kick the presentation up a notch last update by reformatting the design of the page but there were some issues that I have not had time to fix like the centering of the main window as you load the page or resize the browser. I am not liking that the drawing of the window is a bit clunky at times and resizing causes it to pour off the left side of the screen. I am not a web designer by trade so I don't have the knowledge base to knock out these trivial problems. I pretty much hack my way around and try to read-up on things I want to do. Of course all that requires time, and time, I have learned, becomes quite a scarce commodity once you have a little one. On June 3rd, Elena, Emma and I had the privilege to attend Albert (Elena's Cousin) and Ebby's baby shower. They are expecting their first boy. The party was held in a beautiful restaurant in Miami and was well attended. Albert and Ebby received a lot of beautiful gifts and everyone had a great time. This was Emma's first party and she was a bit overwhelmed by all the people at first and clung to me like a Reese monkey. It's times like that when I really feel like a Dad. :) I love to know that I can make her feel safe and that she depends on me for security. Emma looks forward to meeting her cousin Anthony Giovanni when he is born. On June 18th, I celebrated my first Father's day. I know I know, last year we celebrated it as well, but that was just a dress rehearsal. This time Emma was topside so I got to celebrate it for real. I got some really nice gifts like a keyboard, coffee mug, book, picture frame, and Emma-personalized mouse pad (too cute!). I wanted to buy Emma a keyboard so she could be exposed to music as early as possible. I was going to get her a toy one but I couldn't find one that I liked for her. Then I thought of all the silly little songs we sing her and how it would be nice if I we were to sit around the keyboard and play songs we could sing to. Of course that requires that I learn how to play but hey, I'm up to the challenge. My parents always tried to get me to study piano but I never established enough of a proficiency to maintain interest in it. You know what they say... "When the student is ready, the teacher appears". Here are some of the very thoughtful gifts I got for Father's Day. All the gifts were great but the book was probably the one that touched me the most.
I am going to try to wrap things up because it is getting late and I have a few more things to do tonight before Sunday is over for me. Before I go I want to leave you with a song dedication I made to Emma about a month ago. I play it at night when I put her to sleep. Lights are dimmed and she is embraced tenderly in my arms. I then proceed to slow dance with her and gently whisper the lyrics into her ear. And yes, on many occasions I am unable to hold back the tears. I believe this song perfectly conveys how I feel about her. The song is entitled, "Come What May" and is from the Moulin Rouge soundtrack. I hope you enjoy it as much as Emma and I do. Make sure your speakers are on, then click here to play the song. "Come What May" Never knew I could feel like this
